Today I found myself with lots of time for sewing, so sewed up these Star Trek project bags I’d cut the pieces for ages ago.
This morning at my sock knitting group, I made myself focus on sewing up my Splatterdash mitts before working on any other projects. I was able to finish them in time to have a friend take some photos!
Having decided that the yarn is busy enough on its own, I didn’t sew buttons on.
The same friend also took photos of my Giants cowl. My favorite is this grumpy one. Apparently the Giants lost a game today, so I was probably mad about that.
I love all the different versions, and I love that our new meetup spot allows for fun new photo ops!
In Etsy news, I added Star Trek and Star Wars project bags to my shop today, and sold one right away, thanks to my most loyal customer. 🙂
I hope you had a good Sunday too!
From being mentioned on the Yarn Harlot’s blog last week, my Etsy shop suddenly had a lot of traffic and even a few new orders. It wasn’t the best timing, stock-wise, as I had been away for over a month and hadn’t been able to make the new project bags I’d wanted to have in stock. Today I spent some time at the sewing machine and was able to stock up the shop a bit, but there’s still work to be done. The new project bags I made are Dalek, Tardis, and Star Trek-themed!
My Etsy shop is https://www.etsy.com/shop/MarissaMadeIt, if you or someone you know has geeky/sci fi taste and needs a new project bag!
In Mother Bear Project news, I found my Gloria Bear among many bears with their new owners in South Africa. Love!
I finished knitting my Giants cowl at knit night tonight, but then I messed up the kitchener and have to redo it. I learned a lesson– if you know you’ve messed up the kitchener, stop and fix it! Don’t try to keep going and just make more work for yourself. :0
One is for a current order, the other is to add to my stock. With all this fabric prepped, I hope to be able to add more bags to the shop soon! Once I get my assembly line going, I can be pretty productive. It’s just a matter of having the alone time, as I can’t do much sewing with the kids around. (I don’t know how other moms do it!!!!!) My shop is https://www.etsy.com/shop/MarissaMadeIt?ref=s2-header-shopname, if you’re interested!
Tonight I also started a project to knit/wear? at Stitch n Pitch tomorrow evening. The Giants are playing the Brewers, and I have exactly zero sports-related items to wear. Maybe I’ll have a warm cowl by the time the game is over.
The other day when I went to Yarnapalooza and Northwind Books and Fiber, I entered to win various prizes. I ended up winning a gift certificate for $5! I used it toward a game the kids and I can play on the flight home on Friday.
In other news, if any of you follow the Yarn Harlot’s blog, you’ll know about the bike rally and the karmic balancing gifts you may win if you donate to the cause. Well, having been on the receiving end of the karmic balancing gifts a few years ago, I thought it would be fun to donate a prize this time around. Well, I finally got the news today that my gifts would be on her blog today!
I donated a few geeky project bags- I’ll send them out tomorrow and I hope the recipients love them!
Well, that was a cool day in knitting/knitting-related pursuits!
Today was all about pajama pants!
I was so excited to finish these that I immediately cut out the same pattern from my Dr. Who fleece. Unfortunately, I cut the front pieces with the pattern upside down. After thinking about it during the afternoon/evening, I decided that I want the pajamas to be awesome, so I re-cut (I had way more fabric left over than I expected!). Hopefully I can sew them up tomorrow and have super warm jammies!
Yesterday I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple support, recovering my hidden iPhoto library. I was pretty nervous about it– losing 6 years of photos would have been really sad. Anyway, they were great and my photos are back where they belong, I’m back to using iwatermark, and I’ve finally been able to publish a few new items on Etsy that have been ready for some time now!
I have 7 project bags made in Marvel Comics or Star Trek fabric. They’re great for smallish knitting or crochet projects like hats, socks, amigurumi, etc!
Here’s my shop:
Getting things up on Etsy is a bit time consuming! There are quite a few steps involved; making, photographing, uploading the photos to the computer, watermarking them (I might be a bit nutty about this one, but I really want to keep credit for my creations), and finally listing the products on Etsy, which also takes time, if one wants to do a thorough job of it. Not to mention that I can only do all of this when the kids aren’t around, which is…. almost never! :0
You know those days when you’re completely sapped of energy by 9pm? I always have these high hopes of getting A and B and, oh! C done after getting the kids to bed. I generally end up with some Facebook, some Ravelry, and a bit of knitting while watching Dr. Who.
Tonight is one of those nights. I fell asleep while getting the wee boy to bed, and can’t bounce back. So it’s just a bit of bear knitting for me tonight.
However, I was able to get some things done during the day today. My husband took the boy to swim today, and they were gone for several hours and I was able to finish sewing 5 Marvel Comics and Star Trek knitting/crochet/etc. project bags! I hope to take good photos tomorrow and get them posted in my Etsy shop ASAP. I’m really happy with how they turned out, and I even ironed some just-washed fabric for some Star Wars bags. Here’s my Etsy shop:
I’m looking forward to turning these into cute, useful items!
