Happy New Year!

Last night we hosted the tiniest Harry Potter-themed New Year’s Eve party.  We had Harry, a witch, a dementor, pumpkin juice, sausage rolls, and a viewing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  It was fun!

Today we started the new year off by seeing Rogue One for the second time.

I have also casted on for my Cablepalooza project, Julissa. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/julissa I’m using Miss Babs’s Yowza, and although I only have about an inch done, it’s looking good.
So I’d say that’s a good start to 2017.  Happy New Year!

Tonight at knit night I started and finished a tiny Gryffindor scarf bookmark- a birthday gift for a fellow Harry Potter fan.  I did the fringe when I got home.

The pattern is from Charmed Knits, Projects for Fans of Harry Potter. I used DK weight yarn, so it’s a bit thicker than I’d like, but I didn’t want to but yarn for such a small project so I made do with stash yarn (mystery red cotton, yellow Silky Wool).  I think the recipient will be pleased!

Sock Sunday

Today was my monthly sock knitting group meetup, where I worked on two non-sock projects.

I spent some time on Trillian, which I’ve been completely neglecting, to the point that I needed the pattern for a while.
I also finished knitting a bear, which I stuffed and embroidered this evening.

I’m on letter D, and I’m naming this A-Z batch for characters from my favorite movies, so this is Draco.

Next is E, and I don’t have a name yet…. Do you know any great movie characters whose names start with E?

I’m having trouble with my photos today, so I can’t show you exactly what I had in mind for this post.  I will, however, share with you a gratuitous sunset photo of San Francisco, because it was just so beautiful this evening:

For honesty’s sake, I will tell you that isn’t real fog.  It’s made by a fog machine.  But it’s still pretty cool, right?

I would also like to share with you this bear that I put the finishing touches on this evening.   I’m naming my bears in alphabetical order, and I’m on Q with this Slytherin-themed bear.  Between the names Querida (dear one in Spanish) and Queenie (my daughter’s idea), which do you prefer?  I’m pretty sure that there weren’t any Q-named wizards mentioned in Slytherin House….

Next week I’m mailing off 5 bears to the Mother Bear Project (http://www.motherbearproject.org/) with a friend, and we can also hand deliver 3 to Stitches West, so I’m right on target for that.  The two of us are doing great on our 2014 goals of knitting 14 bears (each).  Yay!!!
