Yarn chicken 2

I lost!! I ran out of the Exploding Peacock yarn with about 9 garter ridges of the last wedge left. After consulting my knitting group, I decided to finish it in the blue (wavy edge color).

I think it’ll look fine. Having stayed up too late, I also had time to start the cables edging.

After working all those increasingly long rows, this part is fun and satisfying!

Happy knitting!

Free to be

Sometimes when I spin yarn, I want it to be really perfect and even. Other times I’m able to let the yarn decide. Today I didn’t predraft too much, but let the yarn fulfill its fibrous destiny:

I’ll almost done with this half of the totally fiber. We’ll see what it becomes!

WIPs and a bear sighting!

Hi friends, I’ve been quiet in this space lately (sometimes wordpress acts up on my phone, which is where I prefer to blog), but there has been some knitting, some vacationing, some coursework, and lots of baby steps toward starting work in a few weeks.

I’m currently knitting three shawls at the same time, which is unheard of for me, but there is a good reason for each of them; 1) because I really want a neutral gray shawl, reyna2) because of Colorpalooza, doodlerand 3) because it’s a Don’t Panic Mystery Shawl Knitalong and I find it hard to resist Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy-themed knits!!!

It’s a mystery KAL, so I won’t spoil it, but it looks very pretty!

It’s been a while since I’ve had a bear sighting, but today I was alerted to this guy!  Thorin Bear has been spotted in Africa with his new owner!

Thorin

Happy knitting!

New bear & etc

My 98th bear is done! Meet U.N.I.T.

As you can tell, I’ve been focusing on using up those tiny balls of leftovers, resulting in pretty random color choices.

I’ve also started a Doodler shawl for a more challenging Colorpalooza project:

This week also also included lots of pretty views due to driving to and from sailing camp:

And whale watching at Fort Point!

That speck out in the distance is a whale! We saw about 6 this day!

And the week ended with us getting really excited about homemade baguettes!

It crackled for several minutes after taking it out of the oven! So cool!

The first batch came out so well that my husband whipped up another batch of dough while the kids and I were out this afternoon. The Wee Boy hugged me in gratitude for this bread! How much more highly can I recommmend the recipe?? 😂. It’s from the book The Homemade Vegan Pantry, which I’ve found to be a really excellent resource.

I hope you’ve had a good week, too! ❤️
