Yesterday the kids and I found a very nice lake near New Auburn, Wisconsin. It’s called Round Lake, and it was lovely and peaceful.
On our way back, we followed signs to the David R. Obey Ice Age Center at the Chippewa Moraine State Recreation Area. I’m glad we followed our instincts, because it was well worth our time!

The kids each got a kind of scavenger hunt to do, then the docent spent time with each of them, asking them questions to make sure they learned something, and didn’t just do the activity without thinking. For their efforts, they got to choose a cool prize. They both chose a cool compass they can wear on their wrist.
If you’re in the area and you’re interested in the Ice Age, check this place out!
Hands on for the kids is the best. Even adults can have fun.
Yes! The kids were totally engaged and left with a great impression of the place, and hopefully some interest in the things they learned about!
