I turned 37 today! But before I could do any of my own celebrating, the kids and I had an Indiana Jones-themed kids’ party to attend!
I wasn’t on top of the gift shopping, but I happened to have something in my FO stash that I knew the kid would like– Star Wars reusable snack bags! I’ve made a ton of these for my own kids, and we use them A LOT.
I like the tiny ones for nuts or raisins, the medium ones for crackers, etc., and the biggest ones are perfect for sandwiches or muffins. They save us a lot of money and waste compared to plastic baggies.
There was an Indiana Jones entertainer at the party! He was great!
The food was excellent AND entertaining.
The best part of the party might have been that the Birthday Boy’s grandma is a knitter like me, so we had lots to talk about; what we like to knit, yarns we like, Ravelry, our LYS, etc!
The Wee Boy fell asleep on the way home, so the Wee Girl helped me arrange my quilt squares! We didn’t put too much thought into the arrangement, except that we tried not to have patterns next to each other, or solids next to each other. Apparently I really like blue, because these were all scraps that were left over from other projects! As it’s my first quilt, I would have preferred bigger squares for less sewing, but I really wanted to make the most of my scraps. Sewing is different from knitting, in that you can’t really use up every last bit of fabric like you can with yarn. My thrifty nature shudders to throw away a scrap of fabric that I might someday find use for. How do you get over that???
Starting from the right side, I stacked them up in order, bull clipped them, and labeled them according to their row. I think I’ll also print out a photo of our layout to make sure I sew them up correctly!
Ready to be pinned and sewn up!
Considering how bed time is going, I don’t think I’ll get to any sewing tonight, but maybe tomorrow. In any case, this was more progress than I expected to make today, so I’m more than pleased!
