A bunch of us from our knitting group bought a Groupon for a LYS, Nine Rubies (about 30 minutes south of San Francisco), and today was the official shopping date. I was very happy that I was able to make it. http://www.ninerubies.com/
First of all, downtown San Mateo is pretty adorable. Just down from Nine Rubies is a small circle of gravel in which there is a “Meter Garden.” http://dsma.org/meter-garden-ribbon-cutting/
And…. San Mateo’s LYS, Nine Rubies!
It’s a nice little yarn store, although I feel like they don’t have that much yarn available (I’m spoiled by my LYS in San Francisco, I know!!!!). However, the staff members I encountered were very friendly and helpful, and I left very happy with my purchase.
They have some very nice samples on display, which I’m sure lead to some unexpected shopping.
This little guy will keep you company while the staff ring you up.
I ended up with exactly what I went there for; yarn for my new sock KAL, Eisern, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/eisern I needed a main color, as I have a few candidates for the contrast color. I’m leaning towards the purple Shibui, but the blue is also tempting.
I’ll take them to sock knitting group tomorrow to get opinions and perhaps even cast on!
